Berlaga di Stamford Bridge, Chelsea membuka gol lebih dulu lewat sundulan Frank Lampard. Namun, Arsenal tak tinggal diam dan mencetak gol balasan melalui Robin van Persie. Kubu Arsenal akhirnya harus mengalah di paruh pertama, menyusul gol sundulan John Terry membawa The Blues kembali unggul 2-1.
Memasuki babak kedua, Arsenal tampil jauh berbeda. Mereka bahkan langsung berhasil menyamakan kedudukan melalui Andre Santos. Arsenal akhirnya memastikan kemenangan 5-3, lewat gol spektakuler Van Persie yang melepaskan tembakan kaki kiri melengkung di mana bola berbelok arah tepat di hadapan Cech, sehingga kiper terbaik Republik Ceska tersebut tidak bisa berbuat banyak dalam menghadang laju bola yang meluncur deras ke gawangnya.
Dengan kemenangan ini, Arsenal sukses merangsek naik di papan klasemen sementara. Dengan tiga kemenangan beruntun di Premier League (lima di semua ajang), Arsenal kini berhak menduduki peringkat tujuh klasemen sementara dengan 16 poin. Sementara di lain kubu, armada besutan Andre Villa-Boas masih terpaku di peringkat tiga klasemen sementara dengan koleksi 19 angka.
